A slightly scented species, the pretty little flowers wander daintily through the delicate shades of blue and occasionally stumble into lilac.
Although L. orchioides has a wide distribution in the Cape, the ssp. L. orchioides ssp. glaucina is only known from three small
locations on the eastern side of Table Mountain.
I bought it in 2007 from Cotswold Garden Flowers for £4.50. Their catalogue says:
"Spikes of slightly scented astonishing greyed pure blue flowers with pale greyed purple mouths from a brozed stem.
Apr-May, 30cm. Good cut flower, tender."
