Aconitum uchiyamae BSWJ.1216

A Crug Farm Plants collection from South Korea (BSWJ 1216). I have it in the greenhouse because I am feeble and it hates the shade and the dry conditions. It flowered in thin desperation before I finally got the hint and moved it outside."

The Crug Farm Plants catalogue says:

"A tuberous rooted monkshood we found growing on wooded, well drained hill sides, on Chejudõ, South Korea. In cultivation the smooth, purple stems have attained 1m, with terminal and axillary racemes of large deep-blue flowers with crumpled hoods. Sun or shade in any drained soil."

Beth Chatto Plants and Gardens say:

"A perennial monkshood with pale to mid purple flowers, late summer into autumn. These tend to darken as the season progresses. Good autumnal coloured foliage. New foliage, elegantly lobed and marked with silver white splashes. Height has varied between 1m - 2m. Collection reference BSWJ 1216. CAUTION: toxic if eaten. Avoid skin contact."
