Agapanthus 'Purple Delight'
3rd October 2015
In recent years Agapanthus have become very popular in Mediterranean climates around the world
and breeders have put a lot of effort into producing better and better cultivars for low maintenance
landscape and garden use. It is laudable and improvements have been made in tall, short, blue, white, single and
double forms. Inevitably attention came around to the darker blue and purple forms and many have been introduced.
'Purple Delight' seems to be one of the best with large heads of dark blue flowers with a reddish tinge.
It was raised by Richard Jamieson at Black Dog Plants in Cape Town, flowering for the first time in 2001 and now appearing worldwide.
