Agave colimana
20th November 2009
I have just bought two seedlings under the name Agave colimensis, which I think may be A.colimana (in which case it is
a more or less coastal species from Mexico, and may not make it through the winter).

It has been surprisingly tolerant, though perhaps I should have expected it to be robust. It is fairly closely related to A. filifera, which
is a tough old bird. From the Pacific coast of Mexico in the states of Colima and Jalisco where it is found close to the coast, sometimes within reach of sea spray.
It has a comfortable charisma about it, like a cartoon hedgehog or a warm apple pie.
