Agave funkiana
1st March 2015
A species that forms part of the albomarginata-lechuguilla-lophantha complex. The whole group have variable characteristics
but they all have distinctive shin-stabbing tips to the leaves. I suffer more accidental stabbings from this group than all of the other species I grow
so I view them with the lacklustre enthusiasm of someone weakened by blood loss.
Many forms produce suckers rather freely.
Thanks to the wonder of archived notes I can tell you that this is one of three seedlings I bought in 1993 and the only one to survive.
