Ajuga reptans
24th May 2008
There are a large number of cultivars of Ajuga reptans with coloured leaves that have been selected for ground cover in gardens. From
time to time I have grown them and enjoyed the bright leaves and sometimes spectacular blue flowers.
Meantime, without my help, the wild form is spreading through the grass in the garden. Actually it is displacing the grass in the garden,
but it is very welcome. It has been here for a decade or so, getting better every year, but it doesn't always catch the light well, so there aren't
many pictures!
