Aloe zebrina
22nd November 2014
A beautiful compact species with dark leaves heavily speckled with white spots. I was given a young division last year and planted it in light shade
in an attempt to protect it from severe radiation frost. I think that is why the leaves are growing longer and lusher than I was expecting. It may
well tolerate a touch of frost if it remains dry through the winter. I was a little cautious at first because I received it under the old name
of A. transvaalensis which just didn't sound very hardy!

An unfortunate picture taken just days before the beast-from-the-east froze it solid for a fortnight - the sort of
frozen solid that is inevitably terminal.
