A very stylish large shrub. The thick prickly stems grow enormous leaves in spring, and then top them with heads of white flowers in late summer. It has long white pliable roots that lie around
just below the surface, like exhausted worms. A few years ago I had to dig around it, and a forest of suckers resulted.

Poor thing suffers in the shade of a large Monterey Cypress. I should move a sucker somewhere more suitable where it could be magnificent.
