Ardisia crenata
18th December 2011
The genus Ardisia contains a number of small evergreen shrubs that are from the tropical regions of Asia,
but they border on almost growable in the UK. A.creanata is popular in Japan as a pot plant for its winter
berries and it turns up in the UK from time to time. I was planning to try it in the garden when the summer came,
but it didn't survive long enough. This one clearly wanted more tropical conditions because
it didn't like being in the conservatory.
