Arum creticum 'Marmaris White'

Archive entry 22.02.26

A pale, lemom tinted form of the species that I am hoping will add to the diversity of Arum creticum in the garden. My original stock came from Desirable Plants a few years ago but was delighted to get another from Gwaun Valley Nursery to plant in the garden. I am always looking for spring flowering plants to add to the space under the trees at the top of the garden and Arum creticum seemed a likely candidate. A. c. 'Karpathos' grows well under a rhododendron lower in the garden. Adding 'Marmaris White' to 'Karpathos' among the spring bulbs gives me some genetic diversity and a better chance of getting seed set.

The Gwaun Valley label says:

"Unusual white-flowered form. Clump forming with deep green leaves on red stems and in early spring late white spathe flowers. Rich, well-drained soil in sun."
