Astilbe 'Peach Blossom'
15th July 2012
A large growing cultivar, the pale pink flowers have hints of orange in bud that are lost as the flowers open.
It works well in the border, softening the transitions between Crocosmia and Hemerocallis
(not always successfully).

A very early hybrid, raised by Georg Arends shortly after he first acquired plants of the pink A. chinensis. His early batches of seedlings were
sold to the wholesale nursery of van Waveren and Kruyff at Sassenheim, near Haarlem in the Netherlands. From the plants they received they eventually named
'Peach Blossom' and 'Queen Alexandra'. They released 'Peach Blossom' for sale in 1902 and it predates all of the named seedlings that Georg Arends later produced.
