Astilbe 'Purple Rain'

A recent selection of A. chinensis raised by Hans van der Meer in the Netherlands in 2000. He was breeding to produce compact plants with
attractive foliage and flower colour. In the garden it has remained compact and produces a lot of flower spikes from the clump. The flowers
stand well above the tidy foliage.
