Asarum caulescens




A very distinctive red flowered species from Japan and China, it is curious that it seems to be so confused in cultivation. This one came to me as Asarum caudigerum, which it certainly isn't.

This one came to me as Asarum geophilum. People mean well, so I guess they can be forgiven the occasional slip with the taxonomy of Asarum. Curiously, on the occasions when I have bought Asarum caulescens, I have never received the real thing!
