A new evergreen Berberis that I wanted to try in the garden as soon as I saw it. There are evergreen Berberis with leaves that develop purplish colours in cold weather
but this is said to be the first evergreen Berberis with purple foliage. The rumour is that it is a hybrid between an evergreen species and a purple leaved form of
Berberis thunbergii. I have some doubts when I look at the plant but I haven't been able fo find any further information. Selected by INRAE (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique) in France, protected by European PBR, EU 50102. |
