This is the wild subspecies of the plant from which it is believed B.grandis grandis was selected in cultivation. Paler and leafier
than the cultivated plant, I was very pleased to get hold of a plant from Cotswold Garden Flowers.

It is now growing outside where it has been hardy but slow to get going in the spring. The soft leaves are easily
damaged by wind.
