Billbergia x windii
24th September 2009
I have been growing an un-named green Billbergia for about 20 years that arrived as a free extra in a box of other plants, and I have always assumed that it
is Billbergia x windii, but it never flowers, so I tend to ignore it. When I saw a named plant at a plant sale, I decided it was time to get it and do
a serious comparison (and since it cost £1.50, the damage wasn't too frightening).
This is the named one, which of course went straight into flower. B.nutans is fairly hardy here, so my plan was to leave this one in the greenhouse
and see what happened, but sometime in November I lost my nerve and brought it into the conservatory. Maybe next year.
