Bletilla striata 'Alba'

A very beautiful white flowered form. I'm afraid I bought it in flower - there are so many wrongly named ones that turn up as
dormant tubers, and I really wanted a white one!

The white form was selected in Japan where it is probably propagated by seed as well as division
which might account for the slight variation in colour sometimes seen. It is also possible
that the plant is more or less tinged with pink depending on the circumstances. As you can see
from the pictures, it was quite pink last year, especially on the labellum but this year
it is much paler in colour and the lip is almost pure white.
