Bletilla striata 'Albostriata'
Archive entry 07.05.23
19th May 2007
A variegated form with narrow white margins to the leaves. Slightly less hardy than the green leaved form, this one will be staying in a pot.

I picked this one out of a batch at a garden centre because it has wide white and pale green stripes through the leaves. Although we call it 'Albostriata'
over here, these are all Japanese cultivars with names of their own (and for my own part, I apologise for being too lazy to learn them.)
24th May 2008
Much stronger this year, the flower spike has produced a good display and the plant has bulked up significantly.

The variegation is very subtle, and shows best on the spring as the shoots elongate. By the time the bright pink flowers open, the white margins
to the leaves have become less obvious.
