Browningia altissima
8th June 2006
Every now and then I try the occasional cactus for hardiness. They start off in the cold greenhouse, and if they survive and they seem worth the bother, they get a season or two outside.
The seed came originally from Peru, so it might have been quite cold tolerant, but it wasn't. At the first sign of cold it went all floppy, in a way that is fairly terminal for
a cactus.
