Calanthe oblanceolata
20th April 2010
Don't take any notice of the name, this is probably NOT Calanthe oblanceolata.
The problem is, I can't find a decent description of what Calanthe oblanceolata should look like.
It is a Japanese species allied to C.nipponica.
This plant came from a dealer in 2007 and was almost certainly recently imported from China.
I think it is actually Calanthe tricarinata, the three distinctive keels on the labellum
are probably the significant factor.
In the meantime I struggle on in ignorance and in the hope that one day there will be enough time
to identify these things properly.
