15th November 2013
A variety of the species from the south-eastern states of the USA with more or less glaucous leaves (mostly less). It behaves like the typical plant
in all respects, the distinction is slight. Calycanthus is one of those genera that I have never quite got around to growing
so when I was offered this one looking rather sorry for itself at the end of the season I was happy to give it a go. In the event it has grown well in the greenhouse
and produces some moderate yellow autumn colour.

The red flowers are typical for the species.
