The fabled yellow flowered Camellia (or at least one of them) that was named C.chrysantha when it was discovered.
It is a rather warm growing species from southern China and north Vietnam.
I remember the press reports that accompanied the first living material to be released from China in the late 1970's.
I was young, but fascinated. I was also resigned to the fact that I would never grow it. Too rare, too difficult, never going to be available.
Then I got the chance to buy a small one, and it isn't the sort of opportunity I am going to miss. Winter will be testing!
