A dark flowered form of the species. It is still very young but I have been pleased with its growth.

A dark flowered form of the species grown at Trewithen from an introduction by George Forrest from Yunnan in 1918. They called it "dark form"
for many years but in their 1973-4 catalogue, Southdown Nurseries listed it under the name 'Trewithen Red' and the name has stuck.
