Chrysosplenium macrophyllum
12th February 2012
In general Chrysosplenium are low growing mat forming plants from shady moist corners around the world.
They are all quite charming and instantly forgettable. When this large leafy monster was introduced from
shady moist corners of China it was snapped up by everyone who saw it - I did the same. Fortunately it is vigorous
to the point of invasiveness. Now it is to be found everywhere and as it makes great mats of leaves it has to be admitted that it is also
rather forgettable. In early spring the clusters of pallid flowers encrust the clumps like lime-scale in a kettle.
