Chlorophytum comosum 'Silver Surfer'

17th September 2005

The variegated Chlorophytums with pale margins to the leaves are quite difficult to distinguish. 'Silver Surfer', shown on the left is the brightest silver of the white margined cultivars. It is not yet widely distributed, but it's value is beginning to be recognised.

This is 'Silver Surfer' growing to the left of 'Variegatum', which has broader leaves and a yellower overall tone to the plant.

This shows 'Silver Surfer' to the left of 'Ocean'. The difference is possibly slighter than this photograph shows.

Years go by and it remains the best of the variegated forms by a significant margin (pardon the pun). The leaves are very resistant to folding over, a problem that disfigures many clones if they are handled at all roughly.
