A golden spined species from Bolivia, where it is typically upright with large red flowers. My plant came from a sale having grown too large and inconvenient
for the former owner. I planted it in the Agave house where it has sprawled and produced small red flowers.

Although it has survived, it has not been a great delight at any point and the spiny stems make a difficult environment even more hazardous and its days may now be numbered
as I look for ways to reduce the clutter among the Agave.
