Clematis mandshurica

I was given some seed and raised a couple of plants without the slightest idea what they would turn into. I now know that it comes from dry slopes in North East China where it forms vigorous herbaceous stems
that scramble over the ground and may hoist themselves up a support with limited enthusiasm. I'm looking for a dry, stony place in the sun that might suit it, though it would probably prefer a warmer summer
than it will experience here.
