The 'Belgian' Clivia miniata have been selected over the years for their compact growth and tight heads of good orange flowers, to give a good
strong seed strain that will reliably produce good plants for the flowering pot plant market. The Akebono variegation is a fairly recent
introduction from China. Inevitably, the two strains have been combined, and this plant is one of the early results. The variegation is rather
slight at this stage, but it will be improved in future generations.

This year it has flowered at the same time as the new growth appears, making a spectacular show.
