I was given a seedling at the start of the year and planted it in the Agave house. It grew rapidly and I hoped that it might be perennial with some protection.
Unfortunately it is either an annual or too tender for my conditions. The plant flowered sparingly but didn't set any seed.

The species comes from the coastal forest in Ecuador where it occurs in only three populations that are threatened by deforestation for agriculture.
