Commelina dianthifolia

14th September 2013

One of the most fabulously blue flowered plants that can be grown in a garden, native to Mexico and the Southwestern USA. In a warm, dry environment it can be perennial I was given a seedling and it did well through the summer but failed to appear the following year. I had hoped that it might seed around gently up there but it clearly had other ideas on the matter.
I had previously grown it in 1989 and it had been an annual then as well - I didn't have the sense to collect seed on either occasion.
