Correa glabra Green
6th September 2010
Correa glabra is a small shrub from eastern Australia (New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia).
This is the green form, there is also a form with red flowers. In habitat it is said to tolerate some frost.
I grew several Correa in a cold greenhouse in the 1980's that were wiped out in the cold winter of 1988
and I was happy to allow myself to be convinced that this one would be hardier.
Perhaps it is best to concentrate on how much I enjoyed the flowers in the few months of autumn before the winter came
and demonstrated that easten Australia is a land of promises that will not be fulfilled in a cold greenhouse in Cornwall.
