Cotoneaster 'Rothschildianus'
27th December 2015
An old friend, I rooted a bundle of cuttings in the 1980's and eventually they were planted out in the windbreak. Eventually they were opccupying more space than I had to spare
and they were cut down recently. It may be that this is both the first and the last picture that I will show of a very long term resident of the garden.
Raised at Exbury during the 1930's, it is a yellow berried hybrid between C. frigidus and C. salicifolius. It is evergreen here and although it has been said to make a small tree,
mine never reached more than about 3m tall.
