Crinum x powellii
10th July 2006
A very reliable hybrid between C.bulbispermum and C.moorei. There are a number of colour varieties in cultivation, from white through to dark pink.
In the usual form seen, the flowers are a pretty mid pink. The hardiest and most vigorous of the forms for garden use - my plants came from a garden in eastern England
where they were growing in solid yellow clay that flooded in winter.

It has demonstrated over the last few years that it is reliable in flower through July and August, at least in the greenhouse. Outside in the border it has skipped a year
, probably sulking after I lifted and split it last year.
