Crocus speciosus 'Cassiope'
12th October 2005
A wonderful lilac bloom for the autumn like a fragile paper lantern. Crocus speciosus is probably the most reliable of the autumn flowering species here, and I get a few
flowers every year, but there is no great increase. In a pot of well drained compost in a sunny protected location it produces enough of a display to justify the space it occupies.
There are a number of named cultivars being sold, but I can't tell them apart.
