Cyrtanthus smithiae
21st October 2011
A South African species with corkscrew leaves. I have been warned that it needs to be rather dry during the winter if it is to prosper.
I think it is a few years away from producing its white flowers but the distinctive leaves are fascinating.
4th June 2016
My clump of leaves continues to expand, but no sign of flowers.
It is described as growing in harsh semi-arid conditions in full sun, and I wonder if I should remove a bulb or two
and try it among the cacti.
