Dendrobium Stardust 'Firebird'
8th November 2018
As part of my exploration of Dendrobium I bought this one from a supermarket. It is 25% D. moniliforme so there was a chance that it would have some cold tolerance,
the orange colour come from 50% D. unicum (the balance comes from an assortment of species).
It is a classic "Nobile" type Dendrobium with a pronounced winter dormancy. I wanted to know if it would tolerate the temperature in the greenhouse while dormant.
Long story short - it wouldn't. I think that it might be possible to bring these types into the house in November and store them in a cupboard for a few months while they
are dormant but I haven't tried it yet.
