Dendrobium x delicatum
21st April 2006
This is a naturally occurring hybrid between Dendrobium kingianum and D.tarberi (D.speciosum var. hillii). I saw this one
in a mixed batch at a garden centre and I wish I had bought a few more variations now. This pale peach-pink
form had the largest flowers.
I keep it in a frost free greenhouse and I need to find a way of keeping it warmer in summer. Most Dendrobium
flower when dry through the winter, but need to be fed and watered like mad through summer to get
pseudobulbs large enough in a single short season. They generally come from a monsoon climate with very marked seasons.
Unfortunately this plant didn't survive a series od cold winters around 2010. It had a distinctive flowert shape.
