Doryopteris cordifolia
15th May 2016
I'm a sucker for strange ferns and I'm always attracted to things I don't know so when this appeared on the house plant bench at my local garden centre
it almost inevitably came home with me.
The distinctive foliage in juvenile and adult forms made it fairly easy to identify (at least as far as it is grown, it doesn't quite match the description of the species from Madagascar).
Identification considerations aside, I was aware that if it came from Madagascar it is unlikely to be hardy so I popped it under the bench for the winter where I think it died (though I am
keeping the pot warm in the hope that spring will revive it.
