Echeveria purpusorum
20th November 2009
I bought it from a nursery as E. chinensis. They assured me that it was the hardiest of the species, and I have been pleased with it so far, notwithstanding a certain
cynicism about an Echeveria that claims to come from China. Best gloss over that then!

Native to Oaxaca and Puebla in Mexico and named after C.A. and J.A. Purpus from Germany. Plants in cultivation are very uniform and seem to derive from the original introduction.
Variation that has started to appear among cultivated plants has been attributed to hybridisation.
