Echinopsis 'Samantha Smith'

Bought from Ian Robinson at a BCSS meeting. A hybrid raised by Bob Schick. The Huntington Botanic Gardens description says:
"Flower to 4 3/4 inches (12 cm) across. Inner petals oblanceolate, obtuse, ruffled, yellowish-orange. Outer petals acute, paler than inners. Throat-circle delicate yellow or orange.
Filaments dark amber to paler yellowish-orange. Stigma exserted, light green. Stem semicolumnar, to 4 inches (9.5 cm) in diameter; central spines to 3/4 inches (17 mm) long.
This hybrid is named for the elementary school girl who wrote to Soviet leader Yuri Andropov about world peace during the Cold War, then became a teen-age spokesman for world peace before dying in an airplane crash.
