The spectacular red foliaged form makes a superb banana for planting outside through the summer, but it has to be brought in under cover for the winter.
Sooner or later I will try it outside permanently, but I'm not there yet!

Survived a seriously cold winter and grew away vigorously. We are currently in the grip of
a second, so it remains to be seen how often it can repeat the performance.
Sadly it didn't survive a second year and although I have tried it outside a few times since it does not persist.
