Erodium chrysanthum
1st May 2016
The prettiest of the Erodium with pale primrose , slightly scented flowers. Makes a low mat of silvery leaves
and flowers throughout the summer.
I have been growing a few species in the Alpine House, more a matter of nostalgia than a real interest in the genus.
It doesn't like the wet summers here and it is too big to keep in a pot for long, I'm not looking at the future
just enjoying the moment.
A mountain species from Greece. Dioecious, so male and female plants are needed to get seed. Fortunately the clumps
can be torn to pieces in the spring and the cuttings root easily in a gritty compost.
