13th March 2013

A bright yellow species that I have grown (on and off) for years without it really establishing. This one has gone in a good location, where I can keep an eye on it and intervene if it doesn't seem to be prospering.

A rare plant in its native Californa where it is found only in the Sierra Nevada in Toulumne County, growing from 600-1000m in the mountains. I think it has adapted well to my wet, overcast, low lying garden (I'm on the side of a hill, but it hardly counts). In habitat it is threatened by logging and other human activities.
