Every year the large bulb merchants try new species to see what will sell. Eucrosia are a small flowered genus of amaryllids from South America that are widely and easily overlooked.
They have been trialled for landscape use in Florida, and presumably that is why they are now appearing in the trade.
Eucrosia bicolor is from Ecuador, and has basal clusters of vary broad leaves and tall stems of orange flowers. This plant was rather stunted, but I am hoping that when
it is better established it will perform better.
