Eucryphia milliganii
8th August 2000
11th August 2006
A splendid small flowered little Eucryphia with small leaves and dense growth. In twenty years it has grown to about fifteen feet tall.
16th July 2008
It has made a small tree, now dwarfed by some of the faster things growing around it. I wish I had planted a forest of them when I put this one in,
but at the time I wasn't sure how it would perform.
16th July 2008
Perfect white flowers in June are always something of a surprise, they seem to arrive without any warning.
3rd February 2009
It is lovely in flower, but I have to admit it was just as striking covered in snow. Unfortunately, I think this is its swansong. I have been
levelling some ground in the garden (there is no naturally flat ground here at all, it is all steep hillside) with a JCB, and unfortunately
I ran down the Eucryphia in a careless moment. I have cut it right back to a stump, but I think the root damage is unrecoverable.
It will be replanted, because I am very fond of it, but I have lost a few decades of growth.
