Fallopia baldschaunica
13th September 2009
A vigorous climber, seen here consuming a large Leyland Cypress, which is perhaps no surprise until you know that I have never planted it in the garden!
3rd August 2017
I have been trimming the Leyland Cypress from time to time over the years. They get very wide at the base
as they mature and this one stands alone in a windy position on the south boundary of the garden where it
keeps a lot of light out and constantly threatens to fall and take out the power supply to the village.
To cut as long story short, I cut a long Leyland short (actually, someone else did it for me).
The Fallopia has taken advantage of the extra light and moisture and covered the stump.
