Ferocactus horridus var. brevispinus

Ooh, that's different. It's the phrase that flashes through my head from time to time when I see something
sitting on a bench somewhere. It's always as well to buy such things when you see them, if at all possible.
On a few occasions in my life I have walked away and I always regret it. A golden leaved Broussonetia
was the most recent mistake (though it was eye-wateringly expensive) but I have regretted walking away ever since.
Fortunately (small world) I have since found out who bought it (there was only one) so hope isn't entirely lost.
Distraction, sorry.
So I bought this Ferocactus and I think it must be F. horridus var. brevispinus.
This short spined form of the species from southern Baja California is assumed to be a cultivated selection.
