Ficaria verna 'Primrose'
Pale primrose flowered variants occur quite frequently in the wild. This clone seems to be the first
to be widely circulated, by Ingwersens Nursery from their site next to Gravetye Manor. The Manor was
previously home to William Robinson, cantankerous and fiery champion of wild plants in the garden. I have
yet to find any of Robinsons comments about Celandines, but he published opinions on everything else, so
I have no doubt there are some to be found.
Clear primrose flowers with green reverses. Plain green leaves. It is a vigorous and impressive garden plant,
and the pale flowers stand out as unusual.
