Furcraea andina
15th November 2013
A species from the Andes in Columbia, Equador and Peru that is used for fibre production.
I was given a seedling along with the suggestion that it might be one of the hardier members of the genus.
It hasn't been tested very severely yet but it seems to be prospering in the Agave house and from the speed of its development
it might be the first flower spike to cause serious problems against the low roof.
