Geanium phaeum 'Bowles Red'
28th May 2020
A very long time ago I bought a single plant from a plant sale. I think that it was a seedling from a seed strain. Since then it has spread around under a Magnolia here
so my plants are certainly seedlings now. From time to time I get a really good red one - this is an example. I tried to save it as a good clone but unfortunately I killed it with kindness.
I should have left it where it was.
I can't find any history, I didn't save any note at the time I bought it and I can't find any online reference. I assume that it came from Myddleton House but possibly selected in the years
after the death of E. A. Bowles.
